Mooresville, NC (May 8, 2013) – From ‘Dega to Darlington the NASCAR circuit continues its southern swing with a stop in Darlington, South Carolina for the prestigious Southern 500. Dave Blaney and the No. 7 SANY America are continuing with the momentum built the past few weeks.
Blaney’s history at Darlington: Blaney will make his 17th start at the “Lady in Black.” The track nicknamed “Too Tough to Tame” has been good to the Hartford, Ohio native. Compiling one top-five and two top-10s finishes in his 16 previous starts, Blaney collected his best career finish of third in the 2003 spring race.
Blaney on Darlington: “Darlington Raceway is full of history and is a challenging track to tame. The unique egg- shape and the narrow racing groove are all challenges that you have to master each time you come here. I’ve raced this track through the years and have an understanding of what is needed but this time we have an unknown with the Gen 6 cars – we will see how it plays out Saturday night!”
Crew Chief/Team Owner Tommy Baldwin on Darlington: “Darlington is a unique track on the NASCAR circuit and the key to the race is push hard, be patient and don’t tempt “The Lady in Black” and end up with stripes all over you car. Dave’s a smart, clean driver and we’re looking forward to racing under the lights Saturday night.”
Blaney by the numbers: Heading to Darlington Raceway, Dave Blaney is currently sitting 30th in the NASCAR Sprint Cup points standings.
