Michael Annett Pre-Race Notes and Quotes: Bristol

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (March 12, 2014) – Michael Annett and the No. 7 Pilot Flying J Chevrolet SS race team out of Tommy Baldwin Racing descend upon Thunder Valley this weekend for their first attempt together on the half-mile Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee for the fourth race on the 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series schedule.

Annett, a Rookie of the Year candidate, will make his first Cup Series trip to Bristol, a track at which he hasn’t finished lower than 11th in NASCAR Nationwide Series races dating back to 2011. In nine Bristol starts in the last five years, he averaged a finish of 14th.

Kevin “Bono” Manion, Annett’s crew chief, oversaw cars driven by Jamie McMurray that scored five top-10 finishes in the last eight Cup Series races at Bristol. Manion also has a trio of Bristol wins to his credit, winning with Ryan Newman on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour in 2010 and 2011 and with Martin Truex in the Nationwide Series in 2004.

The race airs live Sunday, March 16 at 1:15 pm Eastern on FOX.

“Bristol is a really fun place to race when you have a good racecar. Everything seems to happen quicker – the closing rates are fast. I’m optimistic about our chances of having a good race. As long as we have a decent qualifying run and have a solid initial run in the race, we can build from there and get a good result.”
