Michael Annett Pre-Race Notes and Quotes: New Hampshire

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (July 9, 2014) – NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Michael Annett looks to accumulate his fifth finish of 21st or better in six races this weekend at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

Sunday’s race, in Loudon, N.H., will mark his first visit to the popular track as a Cup Series driver, where he achieved terrific results in companion races. In NASCAR Nationwide Series competition, Annett completed every lap of the five events he attempted at the mile-long track, with finishes of seventh, 11th and fifth in his last three starts there. He averaged a finish of 12.2 across that five-race span.

Annett’s crew chief on his No. 7 Pilot Flying J Chevrolet SS, Kevin “Bono” Manion fielded NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour cars at the facility, winning twice in 2010 with Ryan Newman behind the wheel. He also scored a Nationwide Series win there in 2005 with Martin Truex driving.

The race airs live on Sunday, July 13 at 1 pm Eastern on TNT.

“Loudon is a little more challenging than the smaller short tracks, mainly because of the bumps, especially in turn 3. I feel like, collectively, we’ve got a good handle on the place. I finished fifth in the Nationwide race there last year and ‘Bono’ [Manion, crew chief] knows the place real well, having set up winning cars in Modifieds.”
