Michael Annett Pre-Race Notes and Quotes: Talladega
MOORESVILLE, N.C. (April 30, 2014) – Michael Annett and the No. 7 Pilot Flying J Chevrolet SS head to Talladega Superspeedway this Sunday for the second restrictor plate NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race of the 2014 season. For Annett, it marks a return to the facility at which he scored his first career Stock Car victory.
Annett collected a win in the 2007 ARCA Series race on the 2.66-mile track while driving for Bill Davis Racing, under the tutelage of then-crew chief and current team owner Tommy Baldwin. Annett also averaged a running position of 15th or better in three out of four NASCAR Nationwide Series starts from 2009 to 2012.
The TBR team at Talladega… Members of Annett’s No. 7 Tommy Baldwin Racing team have enjoyed recent success at Talladega Superspeedway. Crew chief Kevin Manion oversaw the winning racecar, driven by Jamie McMurray, in last fall’s event there, while Tommy Baldwin’s first top-five finish as a team owner came in the fall 2011 race with driver Dave Blaney.
The race airs live on Sunday, May 4 at 1 pm Eastern on FOX.
MICHAEL ANNETT QUOTE:
“I’ve been near the front of the field toward the end of these plate races in the Nationwide Series, and I know the TBR cars have done the same on the Cup side. Hopefully that’s a good omen for the weekend. Track position will be important and anywhere from 10th on up near the end of the race will have a real shot of winning. Our goal is to put it in that group at the right time.”
