  • Former long-time owner of Lime Rock Park

Al Heinke has always been interested in motorsports. Throughout the years, Heinke has had varied involvement in the sport he loves. He competed as a driver, Crew Chief and race engineer before becoming a race team owner. While participating in racing, Heinke raced in many series including Northeast dirt open-wheel modified cars, Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) open-wheel formula classes and International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) sanctioned full-fender sports cars.

Heinke fielded a Big-Block Modified team competing primarily in the D.I.R.T. Modified Series since 1999. In 2001, Heinke formed H&H Motorsports, which competed in the Super DIRTcar Series. In 2009, Heinke moved H&H Motorsports under the banner Heinke-Baldwin Racing. The newly formed team, co-owned by Tommy Baldwin, fielded a full-time Super DIRTcar Series modified and full-time NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour modified, as well as built a comprehensive driver development program.

Heinke’s passion for helping people achieve their goals and presenting opportunities is very apparent throughout Heinke-Baldwin Racing. His goal to find good people and give them opportunities they may not otherwise get is a huge focus of the company and a big reason why their driver development program works.

In addition to participating in motorsports on the team side, Heinke also wore the hat of track owner. Heinke co-owned Lime Rock Park, the road racing circuit located in the hills of northwestern Connecticut, for many years.

Outside of racing, Heinke has other vested interests as well. He owns and oversees the management of Mohawk Northeast, Inc., a heavy civil construction and engineering firm, located in Plantsville, Connecticut.

The common theme surrounding Heinke is that no matter what he is doing, he surrounds himself with the best possible people.
