Pre-race News and Notes: Auto Club Speedway
California Dreamin’: The third and final stop of the NASCAR Goes West swing happens this weekend at Auto Club Speedway. The 200 lap race at the 2 mile super-fast speedway will be the fifth race of the partnership with Nikko RC and Toy State.
Meet Alex: Saturday morning, Alex will be out on Autograph Alley signing for fans from 10am – 10:15. A pit pass is required for entry to this area.
Spreading Smiles: Thanks to a generous donation from sponsor Nikko RC/Toy State, Bowman has been able to visit children’s hospitals on every stop of the Sprint Cup schedule thus far. On Saturday, Bowman will head to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and spend time with patients as well as gift them with cars from Nikko RC and Toy State.
In the Rearview Mirror: This past weekend at Phoenix International Raceway, Bowman and the No. 7 Nikko RC/Toy State Chevrolet fought handling issues throughout the race. Finishing 30th in the Camping World 500, Bowman’s finish now has him sitting 34th in the driver points.
Bowman says: “Auto Club Speedway is going to be a fun race – it’s really bumpy and the worn out surface allows for some great racing. Tire wear will be an issue as we saw last year. I know our team has been hard at work, the No. 7 Nikko RC/Toy State is looking forward to this weekend’s race.”
Tune in: Next up for Bowman and the No. 7 team is the Auto Club 400 at Auto Club Speedway on Sunday, March 22nd. Race coverage begins at 3:00 p.m. ET on FOX. Coverage can also be heard on MRN and SIRIUS radio channel 90. Green flag is scheduled for 3:46 pm ET.
