Pre-race news and notes: Talladega
Welcome back Golden Corral: For the first time in 2015 Golden Corral appears on the No.7 with Alex Bowman behind the wheel. Golden Corral has been a longtime sponsor of Tommy Baldwin Racing, working with the team since 2010. The familiar paint scheme will appear this weekend at Talladega as well as Daytona and Homestead.
Top-10 Kids Eat Free: Not only is Alex Bowman racing for a win on Sunday’s GEICO 500, he is racing to feed children across America as Golden Corral brings back the ‘Top-10 Kids Eat Free’ promotion.
In the Rearview Mirror: Following a rain delayed race at Richmond International Raceway, Bowman and the No.7 DOC 360 team started the Toyota Owners 400 from the 41st position. Richmond presented a challenge for Bowman and the 7 team as handling and the change in track conditions left crew chief Bono Manion adjusting on the car throughout the race. Bring the car home unscathed, Bowman took the checkered flag in 32nd.
Bowman says: “I’m looking forward to Talladega and the new qualifying format, should definitely be interesting to see how this shakes out on Saturday. I’m really looking forward to my first race with Golden Corral, the goal is to come home with a top-10 on Sunday and feed some kids on Monday.”
