Mooresville, NC (June 20, 2013) – As the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series heads to California preparing for road course racing at Sonoma, Tommy Baldwin Racing is welcoming Justin Marks and Victor Gonzalez Jr. for this weekends’ race.
In addition, JJ Yeley will be piloting the No. 37 Chevy this weekend. After a last minute decision, Tommy Baldwin decided to add a third car for Sonoma.
Sonoma is a challenging track that includes 12 turns with a total of 160 feet of elevation change. With 110 laps of continual turns, Tommy Baldwin Racing will have their hands full as they battle during the first road course race of the 2013 NASCAR season.
Gonzalez on making history at Sonoma: “The race at Sonoma is going to be a big day for my fans in the Caribbean, and for Hispanic racing fans everywhere.” said Gonzalez, Jr. “Along with the great team at Tommy Baldwin Racing, I am ready to show the world what I can do at the highest level.”
Marks on his Cup debut at Sonoma: “It’s really the culmination of a dream to be able to compete in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series,” said Marks. “It’s fitting that it’s going to happen at Sonoma Raceway, where I kind of grew up racing and cut my teeth. I know Tommy and all the guys at TBR are going to bring a well-prepared GoPro Chevrolet to the track, so it’s just going to be a matter of getting to know the Gen-6 car and getting reacquainted with the racetrack. My goal for the weekend is to run a clean, competitive race and keep that No. 7 car up in the points.”
Yeley on Sonoma: “Heading out to Sonoma this weekend was a last minute decision for our team. Sonoma is one of the tracks that I really enjoy racing at, and I am happy to be given the opportunity to get behind the wheel of the No. 37 TBR Chevy and race with both Victor and Justin.”
