TBR Fights The Monster

Date: June 2, 2013

Event: FedEx 400 Benefiting Autism Speaks

Track: Dover International Speedway (DE)

Dover, DE (June 2, 2013) - Tommy Baldwin Racing leaves the “Monster Mile” with their cars unscathed from the wrath of “Miles the Monster.”

After showing up to the track on Friday and completing one round of practice, both drivers headed out for qualifying. Blaney’s lap would have him starting the FedEx 400 in 37th, while Yeley would roll off in the 40th position.

However, the weekend wasn’t all about racing. Yeley was racing for a cause, promoting the Delaware Office of Highway Safety’s “Click It or Ticket” campaign. With several appearances with the DOHS, as well as meet and greets, he also found time to film Trackside then hang out with all the fans who endured the hot sun at the “Monster Mile.”

Yeley on Dover: “I am proud to have represented the Delaware Office of Highway Safety this weekend. We struggled with the No. 36 Chevy all day, Joe Lax really worked hard to try to find the right handling on the car. Unfortunately, we lost the cooling system early in the race, leaving me in the extreme heat all race long. It may not have been the finish that we were looking for, but I had a great time this weekend with all the fans and staff of the DOHS.”

Blaney on Dover: “What a long day out there battling the “Monster Mile.” The heat just made the race seem so much longer, and seemed to increase the difficulty. Our No. 7 SANY America Chevy did not get to where we wanted it to all day, until about 100 laps to go. Tommy and the team made good adjustments but we just didn’t have enough time to come back and fight for the finish we deserved.”

Dave Blaney crossed the finish line 29th with JJ Yeley right behind in 30th.

Leaving the “Monster Mile” behind, Blaney remains 31st in the NASCAR Sprint Cup points standings, while JJ Yeley moves to 33rd.
