Ryan Blaney will make his NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) debut this weekend in the Tommy Baldwin Racing (TBR) No. 36 SealWrap Chevrolet. The 18-year-old racer made four NASCAR career starts in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series (NKNPS) in 2011 and 2012 and will compete in the NKNPS East event Thursday before Friday’s Virginia 529 College Savings 250.

TBR AT RICHMOND – This weekend will mark TBR’s first NNS start at Richmond International Raceway (RIR). The team made their NNS debut this season at Daytona International Speedway with Ryan Truex behind the wheel. The team started 18th and finished 31st after a crash ended the team’s day early. TBR has made six starts at RIR in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series with a best finish of 13th.

BLANEY AT RICHMOND – Blaney made one start at the .75-mile, Virginia racetrack in the NKNPS East. In his series debut, he started 18th and drove through the field to finish eighth.

DOUBLE DUTY – The High Point, N.C., resident will have double duty this weekend competing in the NKNPS East race on Thursday before his NNS debut Friday. He will pilot DB Racing’s No. 10 SealWrap Chevrolet for the Blue Ox 100. He finished runner-up in his last NKNPS East start at Bristol Motor Speedway earlier this season.

CHASSIS NO. 503 – The TBR NNS team will bring chassis No. 503 to the track this weekend. This will be the first start for this chassis, which was purchased from RCR’s NNS fleet of Chevrolets. An Earnhardt-Childress Racing engine will power the No. 36 SealWrap Chevrolet.

SEALWRAP – SealWrap Repair Tape will back the young Blaney in all six of his NNS starts this season in addition to his NKNPS races.  SealWrap Repair Tape is designed for use in automotive repair, plumbing and electrical. Ryan Blaney Quotes:

ON MAKING HIS NNS DEBUT – “I’m really excited to make my debut in the Nationwide Series. It is a big step in my career. I ran late models, a handful of NKNPS races and a handful of ARCA races and did really well. So I think that we’ve taken our time in making sure we’re ready for this Nationwide debut.”

ON RACING DOUBLE DUTY – “It’s going to be a big advantage racing the day before. I raced in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series last year at Richmond. It was my first race in that series, and I really liked the track. It’s one of my favorite racetracks that we run at. We will race the NKNPS race around the same time we’ll be racing Nationwide, so that should give me a good concept of what the track will do from day to night, what it will do later in the race and where the groove might move to.”

About Tommy Baldwin Racing:

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) Crew Chief Tommy Baldwin formed Tommy Baldwin Racing (TBR) in 2009. Baldwin utilized a declining economy to open a NSCS team with a stringent budget. The team worked to build to full-time competition, and by the 2011 season, the team’s third season, TBR competed in every race and locked the No. 36 Chevrolet in the top-35 in NSCS Owner Points. Dave Blaney drove the No. 36 Chevrolet to TBR’s highest finish of third in the October 2011 event at Talladega Superspeedway. TBR also fielded a second car for select races in the past two seasons with multiple drivers.

Based in Mooresville, N.C., TBR will compete in the NSCS in 2012 with NASCAR veterans David Reutimann and Dave Blaney. The team will also compete in the NASCAR Nationwide Series with Ryan Blaney, Bobby Santos and Ryan Truex.
